LA Rams linebacker Clay Matthews out for up to six weeks with broken jaw

Los Angeles Rams linebacker Clay Matthews will likely be sidelined for four to six months after breaking his jaw, trainer Sean McVay told reporters on Friday.
Matthews will undergo surgery, according McVay. Thats not great to us, the coach said. That is a significant injury.
Matthews continued the injury Thursday to the Seattle Seahawks during Los Angeles 30-29 loss.
McVay says that he believes when Seattle running back Chris Carson inadvertently kicked Matthews from the face, it happened.
33, matthews, was away to a solid start with the Rams in his first season.
He has 19 tackles in five matches, two forced fumbles and six sacks.
Matthews, who spent his first 10 NFL seasons with the Green Bay Packers, has 89.5 career sacks in 148 games (142 starts).
Rams receiver Brandin Cooks (concussion) also was hurt and has been put at the NFL protocol.
Cooks was hurt in the fourth quarter Thursday.
Cooks has 20 receptions for 325 yards and one touchdown. He topped 1,000 receiving yards in each of the four seasons – twice with all the New Orleans Saints together with all the Rams in 2018 and with the New England Patriots.
